Happy Birthday America!

I made these white cupcakes with butter cream icing today because I am feeling very patriotic. This icing is truly amazing. I more or less use this recipe, but I use half butter and half shortening, because it tastes better that way.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July everyone!

My first pillow is complete!

Check out this tutorial from one of my favorite blogs. I made a similar pillow over the last few days.

Because this project required a lot of scrap fabrics, I had help from my mother-in-law. She's been quilting for years, so she had quite a stash. I picked about 8 or 10 fabrics in similar tones for my pillow, but the original tutorial used a rainbow of colors. I think you could make this just about any way you want. Oh, and the flower petals have double-sided fusible interfacing on the back, so they were ironed onto the pillow fabric. Neat, huh?

There was a lot of tracing, cutting, and ironing for this project. In a way, it was very soothing. Hope you'll make one!

Happy crafting!

Makin' Pillows

It is Tuesday, which is a work day for most people, but having an internship in Legal Services has its advantages. Like staying home on a Tuesday to make throw pillows. Hopefully these pillows will be well under way today. Pics to come!
